Daily Blog for the past 2-3 days 6/18/2024

Howdy! I wasn't able to put too much time into my blog posts nor was I able to do a lot of work on the stuff that I'm interested in.

Here are some progress reports:

• Started interfacing with the Google Maps api to create a data set that has all the gas stations in America, just need to adjust the code to make it a for loop that will get me more data than 20 gas stations in San Francisco

  • This is really testing my knowledge in Python and I'm learning more about json code than I thought I would, I'm really starting to love Python

• Learned more SAS, but didn't do as much practice, just got to learn more about proc means vs proc univariate vs proc summary

  • proc means is mostly used for basic statistics and just outputs data while summary creates a data set

  • proc univariate gives all those statistics but also gives more box and histogram graphs and also will give information about variable distributions

• Learned more about market shock therapy and am learning as much as I can from an international trade textbook so I can do more analyses of currency

For the last bullet point, I want to give a literature review of everything I've read, as well as giving a mini paper on my positions. I'm considering using Substack for the writings, but I want to get some of those papers done before I start on that. I will say that working on projects is very fun but those roadblocks can really slow down progress. I do need to start reading the statistics textbook again and I also really need to start back on ML as well as learning more SQL. I might just do a weekly post as well if progress goes as slowly as this.
