The Week of Interviews

This week was busy in terms of interviewing. I had both of my ISM days focused on ISM interviews and getting contacts to further interview. Something that was disappointing was the amount of non medical malpractice and personal injury lawyers interviewed, yet the perspectives given by a corporate lawyer and a insurance lawyer were pivotal. My first interview was with Ms. Nejat Ahmed who was an insurance lawyer with some experience with medical malpractice, although the specificities of cases were never discussed, and the majority of the discussion was based in the beginnings of a career in law, and the specifics discussed were about logistics and the regulations surrounding the cases. But that interview was notable for the discussion about internships and the importance of being surrounded by the environment that you wish to work in. My other interview was with Mr. Brett Flagg, the brother of Mr. Neal Flagg, the first lawyer I had interviewed. There were many succinct points made, with the highlight of the interview being his quote from his college law professor being, "In order to be a successful lawyer, you would need to be two of three things. On time, likable, or never wrong." The interviews themselves went extremely well, with little to no complaints from the interviewees, with Mr. Brett Flagg saying that there was nothing for me to improve on. Hearing this was quite the compliment, but I will make sure to not let these successes get to my head and prevent me from improving myself and becoming more professional.
